Hannah Glasse's Cookery books were basically the “Best Seller” of 18th century books on cookery. This edition was printed in 1778. Although the first edition published dates back to 1747, it is not known which edition this is numerically as the title pages simply states that this is “A New Edition with all the Modern Improvements.” It also states that it contains 150 receipts plus 50 for perfumery. A perfect addition to any woman's reenacting persona or a great addition to someone's collection of cookbooks.
This would most likely be the volume a woman would have wanted for her domestic needs.
Offered in different binding styles. Full Leather, Half Bound and Quarter Bound. Measuring 5 1/4" x 8 1/4" book has 452 pages with sprinkled edges.
